Dr. Abdolali Basiri became Damghan University's fifth president on May 1, 2014.

Dr. Abdolali Basiri was born in Damavand, Tehran, Iran. He received undergraduate degree in science in mathematics from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran and master degree in pure mathematics from Tehran University. He earned a Ph.D. in Informatics from Paris VI University, France. He then held faculty positions at the University of Damghan. He was dean of school of mathematics and computer sciences in 2004-2006, and became vice president in educational affairs in 2006-2010. He was also chairman of international and scientific cooperation office in 2010-2014 at Damghan University.
Dr. Abdolali Basiri’s research has focused on Gröbner basis and its applications in cryptography.
